Grey’s Anatomy season 15 spoilers: Jeff Perry returning as Meredith’s dad
According to Entertainment Weekly, Perry will be back at some point on the medical drama this season as Thatcher Grey, Meredith’s father who has not been seen on the series in quite some time. Because of this, there’s obviously going to be a good bit of story to explore. Just think along these lines — the last time that Thatcher was a part of the show, Lexie was still alive! That’s how long it has been. It’s a welcome return, especially since so much in Meredith’s life has changed in between losing Derek and also forming a closer bond with Amelia and Maggie who is now a major part of her life.
Beyond of course seeing Thatcher again, Meredith’s journey for much of season 15 could be a romantic one as she tries to put herself out there for the first time really since Derek’s death. While she has certainly had love interests since then, at the same time she hasn’t been proactive in the way in which she’s going to be this season. That’s something that Ellen Pompeo described to the aforementioned website:
“Meredith is gonna date, date, date, date, date, just like my friends who are ready to jump back into the dating world do … What does dating look like today? I think we’re almost phasing out the dating apps now. I’m hearing like people are not liking the dating apps anymore. I don’t know, I’m just really happy I’m not single in real life. I try to listen to everybody’s stories, all my friends and even people that I don’t like that much, so we can tell a story that resonates true with people who have been through something like this.”
Dating is tough, and it doesn’t seem as though there is a perfect option for who the ideal Meredith love interest could be. Nick Marsh was apparently only supposed to be a one-episode character, we’re not banking on anything following the Meredith – DeLuca kiss, and we don’t foresee the show even hinting at Alex again now that he’s married.
