Better Call Saul season 4 episode 1 video: Nacho covers his tracks
We know that there are many different loose threads that need to be tied up, just as we also know that there are some stories that have probably simmered underneath the surface for a while and are still waiting to come into full bloom. We think that what’s going on with Nacho certainly qualifies for that.
Following what happened at the end of season 3, Nacho is going to be intent with covering up some of his tracks. Is working alongside Gus Fring really one of the best things he can be doing? Not so much in the long-term, but Nacho really isn’t privy to the full scope of knowledge as to what Gus is really about. This is what makes this character in particular so interesting through the lens of this show: He is so good at appearing as though he is something slightly different from who he really is. We don’t think that Nacho is a bad guy; he is just someone who has jumped too far in and doesn’t see an easy way out. He’s not realizing the impact that this is going to have on his family and that his actions mean consequences to those he loves. You can make comparisons between Nacho and an early Walter White, with the big difference being that Nacho enjoys the results of his work while Walt just enjoys the work itself. This is also why Walt was more eager to conquer Gus Fring than Nacho will likely ever be.
