Is Jon Ecker leaving Queen of the South after El Guero shocker?

Queen of the South season 3

Is Jon Ecker leaving Queen of the South after the events of Thursday night’s new episode? Of course, we’ve got that information for you within.

Alas, it seems that we are at the end of the road for El Guero. Going into Thursday’s episode, the writing was already on the wall that there was going to be something dramatic that happened. That dramatic event just so happened to be losing the El Guero character tonight.

Will this character be missed? Well, we certainly think that he is polarizing for the relationship that he had with Teresa over the years and some of his treatment of him. Some may miss the character, whereas others are probably happy that he’s gone. In reality, though, the fact that the show generated such divided reactions to this character is really a testament to the quality of the writing. They want you to feel like some of these characters are complicated and complex. They want you to raise questions about them and also some of what the future is going to hold for all of them.

Also, we do wonder now moving forward what this means for James and Teresa, even if it’s probably too early to know for sure. The truth of that matter here ultimately is that Queen of the South really is not a romance at its core, anyway — it’s a drama series with multi-faceted characters, action, and twists. The romantic, will-they-or-won’t-they discourse really is an after-effect of everything else that is happening with the series. It’s a result of seeing chemistry on-screen and wishing for something to come from it.

In the end, there’ll be more time to think of everything else. Let’s just send Jon Ecker well now and hope that he gets some other big TV roles in the future.
