Suits season 8: Check out the new opening credits (video)

Suits season 8

When you consider the fact that Suits season 8 features three new cast members and also doesn’t have Patrick J. Adams or Meghan Markle, it was clear that a new opening credits sequence would be required. After all, the older one doesn’t quite work anymore.

Luckily, today we’ve had a chance to see the new sequence (first posted by TVLine), and it’s every bit as slick and stylized as the one that came before it. While you don’t see the faces of any particular performer, you get a pretty representative sense of everyone just by looking at their sort-of-silhouettes. Gabriel Macht and Rick Hoffman are the first two names in the credits, and they are following after that with Sarah Raffery and then new series regular Amanda Schull. Meanwhile, fellow new regular Dule Hill gets the always-important “with” before his name (often signifying importance, and that you’re near the end of the cast) while Katherine Heigl closes things out with “and” before her name. This sort of wording is important, mostly in that there are certain performers shows often want to accent. A good example of that is American Horror Story constantly putting Jessica Lange’s name last in their own opening credits.

For those of you who do love there to be consistency, you will be thrilled that “Greenback Boogie” is still being used as the theme music. While we’re getting a slightly-different introduction to the series, the music is at least the same. One of the cooler parts of the theme comes near the end, as you see all of the different names of the firm flash by before eventually getting to its current name of Specter Litt. Given how many people are desperate to be name partner, and also given just how quickly that seems to change with this show, we’re not altogether confident that this will be the name of the firm permanently.

Suits season 8 is going to be premiering on USA on Wednesday night.
