Suits season 8 spoilers: Katherine Heigl on Samantha Wheeler’s first impressions

There are a number of different things to expect in regards to Suits season 8, but the arrival of Katherine Heigl is one of the things that will make the biggest impact from the jump. Samantha Wheeler is the most significant new addition this season and she has no problem stirring the pot or causing problems for some of the other attorneys. She is coming over to the firm alongside Robert Zane, someone who is angling to run things now. He brings with him a significant amount of leadership and because of that, it only makes some sense that he would think, more or less from the jump, that he is capable of taking things over.

Yet, things are going to be a little more complicated than Robert expects, and for Samantha, she is also going to learn how to be more diplomatic and get along with more people than she originally anticipated. This is something that Heigl does spell out a little bit further in a new interview with TVLine:

Initially, Samantha comes in thinking she’s there to be Robert [Zane]’s right-hand gal and take care of whatever he needs taken care of, to push him to the top. Her loyalty is to him through and through, and he has to make it clear to her at a certain point, “No, we’re a team here. Your loyalty has to be to everybody. You’ve got to show everybody what you show me.” That’s something she has to work on because she’s not terribly trusting of people, and she’s very suspicious and wary.

The problem that we foresee Samantha running into throughout season 8 is that while Robert Zane knows her and trusts her, there is very little reason for anyone else to do the same. Why would they given that they know so little about her and she is going to come on board in a really aggressive manner?

Suits season 8 is going to premiere on USA in just a matter of days on July 18 — rest assured, we’ll have further news as we start to hear more.
