Given that Gotham season 5 is premiering a little bit later than usual on Fox, it shouldn’t come as a shock that the same goes for filming.
So when can you expect the cast and crew to get together in order to work on some of these episodes? Think July 23. This was confirmed recently in a post on Instagram by executive producer Danny Cannon, who probably was being peppered with a number of different questions (understandably) on the subject. After all, typically Gotham gets started with filming a little bit earlier than many other series in June.
Ultimately, the later start date does allow the entire Gotham writers a chance to have a little more time to work on some new episodes and, beyond that, it gives the cast a little while longer before they have to say goodbye. Reports say that there are only ten episodes for the final season and that means that everyone involved is going to have to act quickly in order to tie together the vast majority of these stories. There’s a lot that needs to be resolved and a relative short period of time in order to do it. There are also so many characters already on board that it’s going to be a challenge to cram any new villains in. Yet, we have a feeling Cannon and the rest of the team won’t let us down.
We imagine that a Gotham season 5 premiere date announcement will be coming up a little bit later this year– once there is some additional news to report on there, we’ll have it for you at the site. To go along with that, fingers crossed for some sort of a trailer! That’s not going to be available, though, at San Diego Comic-Con, given the fact that production will not have started at that time.
