NCIS: Los Angeles season 10: Is it time for more Neric?

Neric

Mrs. Carter: Can we get a little more Neric moving into NCIS: Los Angeles season 10; is that too much to ask?

I don’t know if it’s been stated enough over the years here that these two are one of the best ‘ships within the entire CBS Extended Universe. For starters, they are completely different than just about any other couple out there. It should be abundantly clear at this point that they are more than capable of handling themselves in just about any situation, they also don’t carry with them the aura of being these formidable, super-powerful agents and analysts. They’re quirky, lighthearted, funny, and enjoy cosplay and having a fun time with one another in their off hours. They’re nerds in the most delightful way. They don’t always take center stage in every episode but whenever they do have screen time together, it’s delightful. While other characters within NCIS: Los Angeles are often dark and intense, it’s pretty easy to smile whenever Nell and Eric are in a scene together.

With that in mind, shouldn’t we have some opportunities to see them more in season 10? I’m certainly down for it.

For starters, the format of NCIS: Los Angeles as a series absolutely does yield itself to allowing more of these two characters. With 24 episodes a season, don’t you have to say that there is time for some dedicated storylines? Having the two go undercover is always a delight, and the same goes for seeing the two outside of work together. There were some particularly fantastic Neric moments near the end of season 9 in that capacity. You can just see them loving life, enjoying being around each other, or interacting with their social circles outside of work. There is a part of me that would love some sort of techie convention between them and some of the other nerdy characters across all of these CBS shows (Nell, Eric, Riley from MacGyver, and Jerry form Hawaii Five-0 would be all sorts of fun), but even just getting the two of them together with some of their other friends could be fun.

As for advancing the relationship forward, it’s understandable why producers wouldn’t want to do that too much when Deeks and Kensi are filling that role at the moment. You want to advance pairings at different paces and that makes sense. It’s fine to have Neric thinking a little less about the future right now … but I certainly hope that this changes at some point before the season is over.

NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 premieres on CBS this fall; hopefully, some more Neric fun comes our way not too long after that!
