Lucifer bonus episodes sneak peek: Neil Gaiman and alternate dimensions

Lucifer

The two Lucifer bonus episodes are coming your way on Fox Monday night, and just in case you wanted a reason to be excited, we’ve got it for you in the sneak peek below.

In this preview (via TVLine), you’ve got a good sense as to what the story of the second episode entitled “Once Upon a Time” is actually going to be about. You’re going to see a story, narrated by God (in this case, played by Neil Gaiman), that is set within an alternate reality where Lucifer and Chloe never met and the two have extremely different lives. This is proven further by the fact that Chloe literally walks right by him in this preview and never says a word. It’s a painful thing to think about, but we feel like that in some ways a big part of the narrative push for this whole episode! This is a chance to be reminded about what Lucifer and Chloe mean to each other, mostly via ways of contrast. This is who Lucifer becomes without her around!

On a side note, isn’t it nice to see Tricia Helfer again as Charlotte Richards? While we’ve likely seen the last episode of her alive on the series, this alternate dimension serves as a rather-great way to bring her back for one last curtain call. (Of course, we’d be game if there was more of a way in which she could return during season 4.)

This episode is going to be a fun little journey through the mind, and it is coming after an episode in “Boo Normal” that is going to be more of an exploration through Ella’s mind. Both of them have the potential to be great entertainment, and we do think that there’s some enjoyment to be had here even if you’re watching with someone who hasn’t seen Lucifer all that much in the midst. (Given that today is Memorial Day we imagine that there’s going to be a number of people out there whose typical viewing arrangements are thrown out of whack.)
