Lucifer ‘bonus episodes’ to air on Fox May 28; first details

Lucifer

For anyone out there wanting to get some more Lucifer sooner rather than later, this is probably going to be the best news we can offer — save, of course, for the show being saved for another season.

On Monday, May 28, the two “bonus” episodes of the series are going to air in “Boo Normal” and “Once Upon a Time,” which is directed by cast member Kevin Alejandro. These two episodes were filmed as a part of the 22-episode season 3 order, but would have probably aired during season 4 in the event that the Fox series was renewed. (Think in terms of what happened with some of the standalone bonus season 2 episodes, which aired during season 3.)

For some more information all about these episodes, check out the attached synopsis:

As Lucifer and the team investigate the murder of a child psychiatrist, Ella thinks about a big childhood secret that she’s been hiding. Then, after Lucifer’s mom creates an alternate dimension, Lucifer now lives in a world where he not only has never met Chloe, but is granted the freedom of choice.

The “Boo Normal” episode is the one that will feature Charlyne Yi as Ella’s imaginary friend, who may actually be a ghost. (Doesn’t that help the title make sense?) That’s news that you may have heard about a little bit earlier this spring.

Why these episodes matter in the #SaveLucifer effort

Let’s just put it in these terms: If the show does not have a new home by this time next week, getting some strong ratings for these two episodes could certainly help in the effort. That would show that the elevated finale ratings were not a one-time thing and that standalone episodes can also perform extremely well no matter when they are airing. Sometimes, airing on Memorial Day can be a challenge and w understand that. This is why we suggest having some barbecue a little earlier in the day instead — or maybe bringing some back in front of the television in order to check out Lucifer live. If you have a Nielsen box or no someone who does, this makes it all the more imperative! There is no reason ot give up on the renewal effort, and in some ways Fox airing these episodes now gives fans another chance to rally.
