Outlander notes: Sam Heughan’s latest ‘The Spy Who Dumped Me’ trailer

Sam Heughan

We know that we’ve got a ton of Outlander news to still discuss this week stemming from the big renewal announcement, and trust us when we say that we’re going to dive even more into that in the near future!

Yet, for the time being we do want to share with you something that is a little bit different in the newest trailer for The Spy Who Dumped Me. The new movie features star Sam Heughan in a prominent role and is one of your first chances to see him within a big U.S. studio release. The movie comes out on August 3, right in the midst of summer movie season.

While Heughan is worth the price of admission alone, we’re sure that many of you out there will also appreciate the one-two punch of Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis. From a TV standpoint Kate is one of the biggest stars on Saturday Night Live at the moment; meanwhile, Kunis of course starred on a great sitcom in That 70’s Show. The film also has in it The Leftovers alum Justin Theroux as well as Gillian Anderson from The X-Files and Hannibal. Basically, it’s a movie that TV fans will also love do to the sheer abundance of familiar faces. It’s also a chance to see Sam in a more comedic, modern-day setting than we’ve ever had a chance to before with Outlander.

Obviously, we’re in the midst of a big past month or so for Heughan — he ran a marathon for Cahonas Scotland, there was the big announcement about Outlander seasons 5 and 6, and coming up on May 16 he will be featured on an Adventure Show special alongside Cameron McNeish discussing his love for the Scottish outdoors. You can read a little bit more about this, including how to watch, over at the link here.

What do you think about this new trailer, and what are you the most excited to see regarding Sam in the weeks ahead? Be sure to share some of your thoughts in the comments!
