Chicago Med season 3 episode 19 review: What’s happening with Sarah’s father?

Chicago Med season 3 episode 19

Tonight, Chicago Med season 3 episode 19 brought a lot of drama from start to finish — but, to go along with that, plenty of surprises.

Take, for example, Sarah Reese’s father. While we knew that he was a guy with some very serious problems, but who would’ve imagined that he could’ve been involved in some sort of crime? This was a heck of a shocking reveal, but what we are worried about is pretty darn simple: It’s possible that Dr. Charles is getting in too deep, mostly because of the relationship that he has with Dr. Reese. He cares about her and doesn’t want to see her get hurt. It’s with that in mind that he is looking into her father in a way that he really shouldn’t.

As for other trouble, we had plenty of that when it comes to Ethan Choi’s sister Emily. For most of the episode there was an intense back-and-forth as to whether or not she was really responsible for stealing some prescription drugs from the hospital during the active shooter crisis. She claimed that she was innocent and eventually, Choi started to believe her — even after April had some concerns because of her partying past. Unfortunately, though, April did learn in the closing minutes that Emily was responsible for supplying drugs to a man who over-dosed at a party. With that in mind, there is a good reason to be concerned over whether or not Ethan still wants to have his sister around at the end of the episode.

What’s somewhat interesting about this episode is that even in the midst of all of the strong personal stories tonight, there was still medicine that had to be dealt with — even if it got overshadowed at times. For Connor, he chose to took himself off of the conjoined twins operation after doing a number of different trials. This means that Ava is going to have to step up, but also do wonder whether or not this is actually going to stick. Meanwhile, Will and Natalie managed to improve their working relationship in the midst of some personal setbacks. She ended up saving a patient at the end of this episode and with that, we consider this to be a major step in the right direction.
