Outlander, Sony giving away Sam Heughan video call
Today, Sony Pictures formally announced that for everyone who purchases the collection and then shares a photo of it online, they will have a chance to be entered in a drawing to win a video call with none other with Sam Heughan! You can talk to him about a number of different topics, and presumably make some rather incredible memories in the process.
What we do think about this more so than anything else is pretty simple: It’s a brilliant move on Sony’s part to promote the collection. If there are Outlander or Sam fans out there who have not purchased the DVD collection as of yet, this could be the incentive to go ahead and go through with it. Meanwhile, for some of the people out there who have purchased this collection, what it means effectively is that this may be further incentive for them to go online and share/discuss it. It’s basically free marketing for them to go out and share / discuss the show and what they love about it.
Beyond just season 3, we also think that all of this sort of promotion out there should serve as a really great way in which to promote the upcoming fourth season of the show. That’s not coming on the air until fall, but this may be the best way to get some of the word out about the series in between now and when a new teaser or trailer is released by Starz. Every little thing that Sony or Starz can do in order to better promote the show is going to be a major win in the end.
