Supergirl season 3 episode 19 spoilers: Could James reveal his alter ego?

Supergirl season 3 episode 19 is going to give you a wide array of different stories, but the one that interests us the most at present has to do with James Olsen making a potentially-huge decision when it comes to his future. He has to figure out if he is willing to do something untoward in exchange for keeping his secret identity just that.

A big part of what makes this story interesting to us is that through much of the Arrow-verse, many of our heroes have been able to mask their alter egos in one way or another. If James goes public with his, that does put many other people in danger. It’s also tricky for him just because many of the villains on this particular series are aliens who are infinitely more powerful than him. He’s a hero without powers in a world full of them, and we don’t have to explain too much as to why hiding his identity is so important.

Below, the Supergirl season 3 episode 19 synopsis offers some other news as to what ti expect — including another storyline with some ties to cult leader James Coville:

JAMES CONSIDERS UNMASKING AS GUARDIAN – When Tanya (guest star Nesta Cooper), a disciple of Coville’s, escapes from what’s left of his cult, she gives Kara (Melissa Benoist) and James (Mehcad Brooks) a journal that could hold the key to saving Sam (Odette Annable). Someone learns Guardian’s identity and threatens to expose James if he doesn’t do what they ask. James contemplates what it means to be a black vigilante without a mask in America. Mairzee Almas directed the episode written by Paula Yoo & Eric Carrasco (#319). Original airdate 5/21/2018.

This episode is entitled “The Fanatical” and it shouldn’t be altogether hard in order to explain why that is — we’re still going to be seeing Kara having to deal with Coville’s cult. Yet, there is also still a surprising amount of value in them just because of what some of these disciples have learned over time. If there is a way to both defeat Reign and save Sam, it’s very clear that this is something that the cast is going to want to do.
