The Walking Dead season 9: Lauren Cohan episode count revealed

Walking Dead season 8

Earlier today, it was officially confirmed that Lauren Cohan would be returning to The Walking Dead for a string of episodes as Maggie. Now, we’ve got a little more information regarding how many episodes (at least) she will be a part of.

According to a report coming in via Deadline, Cohan is set to be part of six episodes of the AMC drama at present, and these will probably be some of the earliest ones that film. That’s important for a couple of different reasons. For starters, you do want the writers to pick up where the series left off when it comes to what happened with Maggie having resentment towards Rick Grimes. Beyond just that, Cohan potentially has another job in Whiskey Cavalier, her pilot alongside Scott Foley over at ABC. If that series doesn’t get picked up, it’s certainly possible that AMC could structure her deal differently with her appearing in a larger percentage of the episodes. Yet, it’s better not to speculate too much on that subject right now give how much of it is a fluid situation. The series can really take more of that on when the situation comes up.

The important thing here for AMC as they look towards the future is that they will, at the very least, learn the future of Whiskey Cavalier before too much longer. Typically, May is when all pilots are either picked up or shipped away; with that, the network should have plenty of time to try to write in more Maggie in the event the new show isn’t picked up. The right thing to do, at least for the time being, is to go ahead and assume that Cohan’s participation will be somewhat limited. After all, if you do go the other way and think that you are not going to get a whole lot from her, that in turn means you have to change the scripts and other stuff down the line. Why make things harder on yourself?
