Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 22: The search for Alex’s mom

Following up on a series of flashbacks from earlier this season, it looks as though Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 22 is going to continue to put the character of Alex Karev’s mother in the spotlight. We know a thing or two about her already and some of her issues when it comes to her mental health. Now, we’re going to have a chance to potentially see her story play out in the present. Alex could be heading across the country in an effort to see her, and he will be having Jo by his side. That’s important for many different reasons, with the most notable one being that this serves as a chance for these two to build strength in their relationship and also to explore a little bit of the past.

Below, the Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 22 synopsis (via SpoilerTV) is going to offer up some more insight when it to the story ahead:

Alex and Jo go on a road trip to Iowa to find Alex’s mom; Meredith gives a presentation on her mini-livers project, which attracts a lot of attention.

The Alex story is obviously going to be emotional, but to go along with that the same could go for Meredith’s — albeit in a completely different way. Could this presentation be the thing that changes her life and her career in some rather unexpected ways? It’s absolutely possible that it could, given that we’re looking at a method that, if successful, could alter much of the state of modern medicine as we know it. This has been a season of victories for Meredith, especially when it comes to her getting that prestigious Harper Avery Award. Why not figure out some more ways in which that could continue?
