The Vampire Lestat season 3 episode 3: A ‘Claudia’ surprise?

Heading into this season of The Vampire Lestat, it was already reported out there that we would be seeing Delainey Hayles return in some capacity. At the conclusion of season 3 episode 3, we learned just what that was.

(Before we continue, we do think it is worth questioning whether or not it was a mistake for Hayles’ return to be shared in advance, as it did ruin the surprise that we could have had otherwise from the reveal at the end.)

If you think back to episode 2, we knew from Louis already that he had encountered someone who bore a striking resemblance to Claudia. By virtue of that alone, it does make a great deal of sense that he would then work to seek her out and from there, try to forge a larger connection after doing away with Bruce. We saw this woman — a waitress at a diner — in the closing minutes of the episode.

It is beyond easy to tell why Louis would be interested in meeting this woman, given that she represents someone who Claudia never had a chance to be — a woman able to grow up and experience the world around her. What he does from here is the interesting question. Could he just be her friend, or will he opt to try and turn her? We do think that this is one of those instances where there are a lot of options on the table and from where we sit, it would be foolish to make too many base assumptions. Louis may not even know what he wants at this point, other than to be able to be around her.
