Ellen Pompeo describes the Grey’s Anatomy season 14 finale

Just in case you were looking for a reason to be extremely stressed out about the upcoming Grey’s Anatomy season 14 finale, CarterMatt thinks that you firmly have that now courtesy of series star Ellen Pompeo.

In a new post on Twitter, Pompeo described the finale (based on her recent table read) as “classic Greys … devastating with a side of absurdity.” That means that there may be some moments that are over-the-top, but then also some moments that are going to rip your heart out, stomp on it, and then run over it with a bus. We’ve certainly seen that on many different occasions already, and the reason why it’s probably even worse this time around is pretty simple: The impending exits of some significant cast members.

Going into the finale, it’s already clear that Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew are both going to be exiting — we can only hope that they find a way to depart the series in a way that is reasonably satisfying. We don’t want to see either one of them killed off, which is what made the most-recent episode of the series all the more devastating with the cancer scare. There has to be a way to write a finale that doesn’t include such devastation, right? That’s at least one of the hopes that we’ve got right now — or if there is some devastation, it happens independently of whatever the Arizona Robbins and April Kepner are going through.

At the moment, it does appear as though there are several different stories that do need to be addressed in the finale, whether it be learning a thing or two more about the surgical contest, getting to see what’s next for Alex and Jo, and also learning a little more about what’s going to happen with Jackson and Maggie. There are still many different loose ends waiting to be tied up, and knowing Grey’s Anatomy we more than anticipate that there are going to be some big cliffhangers that keep you guessing all the way through the season 15 premiere this fall.
