NBC renewal hopes: The Blacklist, Law & Order: SVU, Blindspot, Taken, more
This article is a compliment to the latest video discussion that we recently filmed on the subject for the CarterMatt YouTube Channel. If you want to view that, you don’t have to look any further than below! (And if you want to get even more daily TV videos then be sure to subscribe to our channel at the link here).
The Blacklist – Let’s kick things off here with the James Spader – Megan Boone series, which at the moment is delivering some decent numbers on NBC Wednesday night. It’s not in such a position where we can consider it a sure thing for renewal, but there is reason for cautious optimism.
Law & Order: SVU – So long as everyone involved wants to continue making the show (and it feels as though they do), we consider this to be more or less a sure thing.
Taken – Unfortunately, we feel the opposite about this series. Due to consistently low ratings in both the 18-49 demographic and total viewers, it’s hard to imagine the Clive Standen series coming back.
Blindspot – There is a definite cause for concern for the Jamie Alexander series, which has struggled in the demo since the move to Fridays. There’s a chance it could come back since the expectations are lower for Fridays, but for now we consider it in serious danger.
The Brave – We’ve spoken about this in the past but really, it’s going to be up to how hard the fans rally and if they can build momentum to keep it similar to what happened with Timeless. It’s in danger, but we know from the show winning our CarterMatt TV Madness last month that it has one of the most loyal followings out there.
Law & Order True Crime – For now, it’s return feels unlikely unless it’s a really notable case that the producers are adapting.
Timeless – If the ratings stay steady the rest of the way it’ll likely return. If they slip, we wouldn’t be shocked if NBC decides to cancel it again.
Rise – It’s a little too early to tell, but if we had to say right now we’d argue that it will probably return.
Good Girls – For now, we feel the same way here, though it’s hard to really gauge the true success of the show given that it’s coming on following The Voice.
There is no point in really looking at shows like The Voice and the entire Chicago universe, given that we’re very confident they will all return.
