Legends of Tomorrow season 3 Finale Forecast: Avalance, Mallus, and much more Rory

Legends of Tomorrow season 3 episode 18

The Legends of Tomorrow season 3 finale is airing on The CW on Monday night and it feels like now’s the perfect time to ask the following question: What can we expect? How will this season end? It’s been a total blast, but some of the silliness does have to settle down in favor of a fitting conclusion with an element of danger and hopefully romance.

In today’s edition of our ongoing CarterMatt Finale Forecast article series, we’re going to detail some of what the writers could consider for the finale plus a few things that we could be left thinking about going into the just-renewed season 4.

Good news for Avalance? – During this past episode Sara told Ava that she loved her; however, Ava wasn’t quite ready to hear it in the aftermath of learning that she is not only a clone, but that she was the 12th one brought in by Rip Hunter. She doesn’t feel as though she’s special and convincing her of that could prove challenging. Hopefully, there is a way for her to come around so that these two can enter the off-season on more stable footing.

Also, can’t we set things up so that Jes Macallan is a season 4 regular? We discuss that more in the video at the bottom of this article. (Be sure to subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube for more.)

A showdown with Mallus – With the character finally showing his true form at the end of last night’s episode, it feels as though we’re set to square off with the demon once and for all. We wondered recently if we were actually going to see this story continue moving into season 4 but now, we don’t quite think that it’s necessary. Wrapping up this storyline within one episode seems fine, mostly because Legends of Tomorrow is a show that is a bit more about the journey than it is who you’re squaring off with at the end. Some of the best episodes this season are standalone.

More Mick Rory – In terms of one-liners he’s absolutely the star of the season; yet, we’d like to see some sort of more substantial story here for him. As it is, it’s hard to tell whether or not he even really enjoys being on the Waverider other than for all of the booze and the opportunity to occasionally set something on fire during the mission.

A small season 4 tease – We know that John Constantine is set to be around full-time next season so whatever comes around next should give us a hint that the series is staying somewhat within the supernatural realm. Even if you don’t introduce the next villain, you could still nonetheless offer up a hint as to what’s coming thematically.

What sort of cliffhanger should there be? – We imagine that the future of a few team members could be in question, especially newcomers like Zari and Wally West who have only been around for a short period of time. We hope that both of them stick around, though we realize in general that someone among the current team could depart just because that is the nature of Legends of Tomorrow and this is a show with an ever-growing cast. Can you really promote Constantine and hopefully Ava / Gary while also keeping everyone else? That’s a challenge if there ever was one.
