The Good Doctor season 2: Chuku Modu leaving, Jared exiting

Good Doctor season 2 - Chuku Modu leavingThere is some rather sad news at the moment when it comes to The Good Doctor season 2 — Chuku Modu is not going to be bringing back his character Jared.

Per a new report from Deadline, Modu is departing after Jared received a rather prominent job offer near the end of the first season. This came after what was pretty clearly a tumultuous season for him, who was at one point also fired for assaulting a fellow doctor who was sexually harassing his then-girlfriend Claire. We didn’t think that he would be getting his job back; yet, when that happened, it turns out that he was only sticking around for a brief period of time.

We’re going to miss Jared on the show, though we do also recognize that for a show like this a certain degree of change and constant flux is important. If you don’t have that, things can start to become a little bit stagnant — something that very few hospitals ultimately are at the end of the day.

There is some good news…

For those of you who loved Will Yun Lee, Fiona Gubelmann, Christina Chang, and Paige Spara, they are all going to be coming back as series regulars in the roles of Alex Park, Morgan Reznick, Audrey Lim, and Lea, who was a love interest for Shaun during the first part of the season. There have been hopes for a little while now that you would get some more of Lea this coming season and this confirms that she will be back — potentially in a more prominent capacity than before.

As for the other promotions, we like the authority that the Alex Park character brings to the series. Beyond that, there’s some excitement with Gubelmann’s promotion just because Morgan is a great thorn in the side to some of the other characters. These shows do need their villains!
