Did The Walking Dead season 8 introduce the Commonwealth, or the start of it?

The Walking Dead season 8 on Sunday night did a great job expanding the world in the form of a new character named Georgie, someone who came to the Hilltop and ended up orchestrating a trade with Maggie — she proved herself to be rather enigmatic from the get-go, and on the other side of her appearance we’re starting to think that she actually knows a plan to a better future.

Is it possible that Georgie is meant to introduce the Commonwealth? That is the prevailing theory at the moment. Georgie could eventually, on the other side of the time jump, be someone who is a power player at the massive community from the comic books. She is someone who is well-dressed, patient, and meticulous in a way that few people within this world are Basically, it is pretty darn clear that she isn’t coming into this world with the same sort of perspective that you are seeing everywhere else. She also seems to actually want to make the world into a better, happier place.

There are some comparisons that could exist between this character and Robin Hood, but for the time being there isn’t all that much that actress Jayne Atkinson can say about the character’s motive beyond the following to Entertainment Weekly:

“I don’t know if she’s stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. I don’t know if she’s actually doing that, but clearly, she’s got resources, and I believe that’s what she wants to be. She wants to be a bearer of good news and help regenerate and revive the planet into its possible glory.”

Personally, we do think that the potential introduction of the Commonwealth to the series is ultimately something that this series really needs. It’s a chance to provide a valuable spark plug and to really cultivate some conversation surrounding the series in a way in which you aren’t quite going to get anywhere else these days. We need a chance of scenery and giving a better sense of this world, which is reasonably peaceful and far more advanced than anywhere else in the Walking Dead universe to date, could be it.
