The Flash season 4 episode 16 preview: Iris West gets speedster powers

The Flash season 4 episode 16 is going to be coming up on The CW next week and this one very well could be one of the most-anticipated episodes of the season. After all, this is going to be an installment geared almost entirely around Iris West developing speedster abilities! They may only be temporary, but this is a story that should offer up some interesting new character dynamics. For example, it’s Barry Allen who is going to find himself scared for his wife’s life as she uses those powers to go out into the field. Meanwhile, she will get a chance to better understand just what Barry goes through on a regular basis. This is going to be a really fun episode! Season 4 to date has been full of these episodes that throw some of these characters into weird positions and then force them to find their way out of them.

IRIS SUITS UP – Team Flash confront a new bus meta, Matthew AKA Melting Pot (guest star Leonardo Nam), who has the ability to swap people’s DNA. During a battle with Team Flash, Matthew accidentally takes Barry’s (Grant Gustin) speed away and gives it to Iris (Candice Patton). Now, with a new threat unleashed on Central City, Barry must act as the team leader while Iris takes on the mantle of superhero speedster in order to defeat their new foe. Harry Jierjian directed the episode written by Eric Wallace (#416). Original airdate 3/13/2018.

How big of a role will DeVoe play in this episode? There’s no clear word at present, but given that Matthew is a bus meta you have to think that he will be involved in some shape or form. This is not a person who Barry can afford DeVoe taking the powers of. If that happens, it’s possible that The Thinker could do everything from swap bodies to trade out DNA. He almost becomes the one-person version of Netflix’s Altered Carbon and that’s dangerous … let alone with all of the other powers that the character has.
