This Is Us: what character we’d like to see in a flash-forward

Recently, the NBC hit series, This Is Us, revealed another mind-blowing aspect to the show. It introduced a flash-forward featuring an older Randall and his daughter, Tess, as a social worker. It was moment that wowed us and suddenly we realized this opened the show up to a whole avenue of storytelling. We love it so going forward we’d like to see a flash-forward featuring Kate.

The character of Kate is a complex and absolutely fascinating person. She is someone who doesn’t have a lot of self-confidence and often forget that she does have people who love her and who see her the love she needs to eventually see herself as. So for a flash-forward we want to see one of these three things.

A mother – This season Kate had a miscarriage and the episode was beautiful because it shined light on situation that doesn’t always get enough attention. Kate was heartbroken and it took her some time to recover, which we completely understand. So does she eventually become a mother? We certainly hope so. We want to see what we could have seen if she didn’t have the miscarriage. We want to see how Kate would be as a mother with Toby in her life. We think together they would be great parents so we want to see how the miscarriage could make them even better parents than they’d ever imagine.

A singer – Kate gave up her old job to follow her dream of being a singer after Toby helped her realized it was something she always wanted. Since then she’s had a variety of gigs and seems to be happy doing what she loves. So how does this pan out over time? Does she become a star like Kevin? One thing we know about this show is that whatever we guess, the writers will do something that we couldn’t have imagined and we will be in awe of it. However, we hope that Kate achieves every goal she has for herself because she deserves it.

A sister – We recently saw that Kate and Randall became close after the death of their father and she and Kevin have always been close. So during a flash-forward we want to see what the Big Three will be like together. It seems as though since the show started that the Big Three have been finding their way back to each other so we want to see how this will affect them in the future. Will they still be close? Or will they be even closer? We want to see our favorite siblings and a glimpse of what they are up to.
