NCIS: New Orleans season 4 episode 15 review: Is this why Percy is leaving?

NCIS: New Orleans season 4 premiere

NCIS: New Orleans season 4 episode 15 featured an old FBI contact, a stand-off, action, drama, and friendship. Yet, at the end of the episode Percy was the subject on our minds. After all, Shalita Grant is leaving the series within a number of weeks; with that, we’re interested in starting to piece together some of how that could come about.

The end of Tuesday night’s episode offered up what we would consider to be a fairly substantial clue given the fact that she was basically offered a job with the FBI in the event that the two gets too small for her. We know that she’s a good enough agent to get a job elsewhere — pretty much all of the team is — and we also know that she is the city mouse for a reason. She may prefer over NOLA going somewhere on the East Coast that is a little bit more her style. The added benefits of being with the FBI would not hurt.

As for the reminder of the episode itself, watching Percy undercover with the FBI’s own Raymond Isler made for some interesting drama, especially since you had basically everything from a car chase to a shootout thrown in there. At one point, the two were also unable to really get any help at all from the NCIS office. With Percy leaving so soon it is nice to get a reminder of why she’s such a valuable part of the team. Isler’s personal investment in the case was yet another reason for this one being interesting.

If there is a central criticism that we have, though, it’s really the lack of major Percy / LaSalle development over time. The relationship between these two has been at the forefront of almost the entirety of the past couple of years and it would be nice to have at least a few moments for these two together where we could see just where the story for them could have gone. Alas, that wasn’t the case at least for this week.

CarterMatt Verdict

This NCIS: Los Angeles episode featured a really strong performance from Grant and beyond that, it offered up some more reminders as to what has made this season strong. While we wouldn’t say that the case itself was especially memorable, we’re watching things from a different vantage point knowing that Grant is leaving and it’s nice that her exit won’t be completely sprung out of nowhere — provided that this is why she goes.
