SpongeBob SquarePants not ending despite internet rumor

SpongeBob SquarePants ending

Is SpongeBob SquarePants ending its run on Nickelodeon? Stop your paranoia — there are plenty more hijinks and Krabby Patties still to come.

This week, an internet rumor started courtesy of a doctored post suggesting that the long-running animated series would be ending its run in March. This isn’t the first time said rumor has surfaced, and it appears to be in part based on some cruel person’s desire to tape into some of the love and nostalgia that they have for the show. They know that making such a comment will lead to a big reaction so they’re more than happy to draw that out of people.

However, we can confirm that this said rumor is not even remotely true. For starters, SpongeBob SquarePants has already been renewed for another season, meaning that there are some more updates coming your way. Also, consider this: Would Nickelodeon really announce this news through a deleted tweet? They would create some sort of enormous spectacle out of it complete with YouTube videos, press releases, and all sorts of other great stuff.

Over the past 19 or so years (that should make everyone out there feel old) SpongeBob SquarePants has become an international sensation and spawned memorabilia and all sorts of other good stuff all over the entire world. We never imagined that the series would get as big as it has, especially to the point where it ended up unseating Rugrats as the biggest animated series in the network’s history. At this point, though, it’s hard to dispute SpongeBob as anything other than the king — and it’s also hard to imagine the series going away at any other point in the near future. If anything does happen, we’ll obviously let you know — our expectations here, though, is that it’s got at least a few more years still to go in the can.
