Bachelor Winter Games finale: Clare Crawley, Benoit Beausejour-Savard engaged
Who would’ve imagined going into this four-episode ABC winter series that there would be a couple engaged at the very end of it? Not only that, but who would’ve imagined that it would have been a couple who wasn’t even around for much of the season? Benoit actually left the show not too long into it, but afterwards he and Clare got to talking and they struck up a relationship that was so much deeper.
One of the things that was so bizarre about the way that ABC presented this whole relationship was almost like an episode of To Tell the Truth. They tried to make it seem like there was this giant mystery as to who she was with before it was revealed to be Benoit. The two shared a very nice moment, and then in the closing minutes of the finale he got down on one knee and proposed!
There are a couple of different reasons as to why you should want to believe in Benoit and Clare, with the biggest one being that they’re far from your typical Bachelor franchise couple. For starters, Benoit isn’t your typical muscled-up Bachelor bro — he kind of looks like a combination of a bike messenger and a computer geek. They are also both older than most of the average contestant and it makes you think that they are not rushing into a commitment. It also helps that the two of them didn’t just get engaged on the show; they did it at the reunion, so they already had a couple of months of talking and being in the real world before he got down on one knee.
Congrats to Clare and Benoit! We’ll see if the relationship lasts == judging from the reactions of pretty much everyone else in the audience, it seems pretty clear that everyone is rooting for them.
