Supernatural season 13 Scooby-Doo episode to premiere at PaleyFest
With that in mind, we’re very much pleased to report that the episode will be coming early for those of you who are in attendance at PaleyFest. The March 20 event, per Entertainment Weekly, is going to serve as the big premiere for the episode entitled “Scoobynatural.” This is, in turn, an opportunity to see all sorts of great hilarity when it comes to seeing Sam and Dean within the Mystery Machine world.
This crossover was first announced last year, and at the time it absolutely was one of the strangest things that we’d ever heard of when it comes to the show. Yet, the more that you think about it within the lens of this series and the more that it makes sense. Supernatural is absolutely one of the strangest shows that is out there. It takes risks and it isn’t afraid at all to stretch things out in all sorts of weird/interesting directions. What better risk is there to take than going animated for an episode? If it works, then that gives you more creative license to go crazy. If it doesn’t work, it’s no real issue and you’ve still got more than 20 other episodes to work with.
This entire episode could be a revival-of-sorts for Scooby-Doo when it comes to adult audiences. We’ve felt for a while that there is personally room to do something more akin to adult series featuring these characters, but that recent live-action movie series left such a terrible taste in everyone’s mouths that it’s caused it to go on the back burner. Given what The CW did with Riverdale, though, don’t you think that they would be able to do something similar with a Scooby-Doo property? We’re crossing our fingers that something like this comes around for the 2019-20 pilot season. It feels a little bit early to hope for it now.
