NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 midseason spotlight: The future for Kensi Blye

NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 episode 7

What should the future be for Kensi Blye on NCIS: Los Angeles? Consider this one of those situations where the possibilities are almost endless, but by and large the majority of them are exciting.

With Kensi, you have one of the show’s most-dynamic characters played by Daniela Ruah, someone who can handle action, drama, romance, and comedy with ease. She’s already put her life on the line in “The Silo” (pictured above) celebrated her engagement in the premiere, and just in this past episode prepared for a rescue mission like no other in Vietnam.

So where should the show take her story next? Rest assured, CarterMatt has a few ideas on that very subject.

More of Kensi’s family – We know what happened to Kensi’s father, just as it’s also clear the sort of relationship that exists with her mom. Yet, wouldn’t it be nice to meet a few other people who are a part of her family? With a possible wedding coming up to Deeks it could be interesting to see a few more connections to her world and who influenced her along the way. We get to spend so much time with Deeks’ mother that it would be nice to see a different side!

Kensi undercover – We could say this with virtually every single character on the show, but it feels like we could use more of Kensi in different roles out in the field in particular — whether it be alongside Deeks or without him — Sam and Callen typically get the majority of the undercover cases on the show.

More of Kensi’s funny side – Eric Christian Olsen gets a lot of the goofy dialogue, but one of the reasons why the Densi relationship really works is that Kensi is often able to fire back with a few good zingers of her own. Give her some opportunities to make Deeks laugh, whether it be a prank or some other shenanigans leading up to the wedding.

Finally, give her an adversary – Let’s go from funny to serious now. We’ve already seen what can happen when Kensi has an enemy (see a couple of seasons back) — wouldn’t it be great to dive into that a little bit more? We absolutely think so! We always like it when specific characters have enemies that are focused mostly on them.
