Outlander Weekly Roundup: Celebrating female directors, more highlights

Outlander Weekly Roundup

Are you ready for this week’s edition of our Outlander Weekly Roundup? We’re going to get to sharing some of the big highlights of past seven days coming up soon.

Before that, though, we want to share what we think is yet another great reminder of all of the fantastic female talent who works behind the scenes in order to make Outlander a success.

The celebration here began when Starz shared, as a part of a thread, some of the female directors who have worked on the series over time as a part of its #FemaleFilmmakerFriday hashtag series. Following that, Caitriona Balfe also praised the number of female writers and crew members — one that add to the tremendous sense of diversity and perspective that make this series so great.

One of the best things that Outlander does by employing so many female writers, directors, in crew members is that they open up the door for more opportunities for some of them down the road. One of the best things about television is that you end up seeing years down the road opportunities open up for people because of the work they did previously — Michelle MacLaren is a great example of that. We obviously want to see many of these writers and directors stick around Outlander, but we’re also going to be thrilled if they get even more great opportunities coming up because of their success working on this show.

Now, our weekly roundup

Some of the latest filming news – This has been a very busy week when it comes to production. Therefore, we’re pleased to say that there is a lot of great stuff to report on here!

A new behind-the-scenes tease – Earlier today, production designer Jon Gary Steele gave you a good sense of some of the props that are being used for the show.

How much confidence should we have in Outlander premiere date – Is there a reason to be fairly optimistic when it comes to the show starting on September 9? Sure, but there are caveats.

Should Outlander opt for an extended premiere? – Wouldn’t it be great to see more than just a typical hour of the show? We certainly think so.

Why are we waiting for so long for Outlander renewal news? – There are, ultimately, a number of reasons for the delay.
