Outlander season 4 filming: Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe continue work on location

For those of you who have been somewhat-disappointed that you haven’t seen Sam Heughan filming Outlander in some time, we come bearing good news!

We reported not too long ago about filming that is taking place at Calderglen Country Park, and we’ve now had a chance to see and hear from multiple different sources that Heughan has been present there over the past couple of days! He’s taken photos with fans and, of course, filmed some new scenes as Jamie Fraser. While there have been numerous Caitriona Balfe sightings as of late, this is one of the few opportunities as of late in which the Outlander faithful have had a chance to see Sam working on the set.

Jamie and Claire are hopefully doing some scenes together — with that, all feels right in the world. Even though they are in the same location together after starting out season 3 apart, we do still assume they will be separated at times. That’s just inevitable because of the fact that they’re both independent people who contribute different things to their society.

Outlander season 4 filming will hopefully run through today; we have yet to see specific days for the weekend, but we’ll have some more updates there as they come out. Calderglen Country Park is located nearby Glasgow, and is around twenty miles away from their other recent location in Cumbernauld Glen. The merit in filming at some of these parks is that they are relatively-forested locations that will look dramatically different from much of what was sued for the first three seasons of the series. With that, the odds are high that you’ll experience the show in a very different way than you did in the past — you better, since the whole intention is to mirror North Carolina this time around.

Are there other teasers out there?

Sure, but there are certain spoilers we don’t feel comfortable with giving away. Even for book readers, isn’t there still some merit to the element of surprise?

Let’s close off with a lovely behind-the-scenes snap here featuring executive producer Maril Davis (who has jumped across the pond to the show’s set this week) and Denise Di Novi, one of the directors for the upcoming season. This gives you a pretty good idea of the sort of scenery that the cast and crew are working with.

Outlander is currently filming episodes 5 and 6 of the fourth season, which premieres on Starz later this year.
