Outlander season 4 filming heads to snowy Calderglen Country Park

Calderglen Country Park

Who wants another quick Outlander season 4 filming update? One day after spending a little bit of time at Cumbernauld Glen, the series has now ventured over to another park relatively close to Glasgow.

Pear a report from the Daily Record, production crews have been spotted for work at the Calderglen Country Park, located about twenty miles or so southwest from Cumbernauld Village in Scotland. There are photos over at that publication of some snowy conditions — it wouldn’t be the first time this year that the Outlander crew has dealt with the snow, but in general they have to be used to it and every other sort of condition that comes with filming in the region.

As for what is being filmed there, signs point once more towards footage doubling as North Carolina. That means there’s a chance for either Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, or some other important characters currently located in “America” to turn up. The rule we’re learning when it comes to filming this season is relatively simple: If there are scenes filming in the woods, it’s most likely a scene that is for the American part of the story. If it’s a scene being filmed in a more familiar Scottish locale, it’s a safe bet (not that this needs explaining) that it’s a Scotland scene. That’s something that we saw last week with production heading to Falkland.

Until there are further updates regarding filming, the safe assumption right now is that the cast and crew are still working on the third block of episodes for the season, which consists of episodes 5 and 6. They began work on them on January 8, and with past patterns in mind they will probably continue to work on them well into February. Given that episode blocks don’t always have to take the same amount of time every single week, we are aware that this is still somewhat subject to change.

New episodes of Outlander will begin airing later this year, and production is slated to go well into the spring / early summer. It’s fair to say that there are many more filming updates that we will have to share. As a matter of fact, this is far from the last one we’re going to be sharing this week more than likely — it feels like we’ve had the luxury this past week of sharing filming-related stories far more than we did in the months leading up to it.
