Outlander season 4 filming continues with Caitriona Balfe

Outlander season 4 filming

Another day, another round of public Outlander season 4 filming — this time around with Caitriona Balfe firmly in the spotlight. Production is continuing today at the Cumbernauld Glen public park near Glasgow and Cumbernauld Village. We reported recently that this is the last reported day of production there (that could always change), and you certainly get the sense that there are many people starting to realize that if they go to the park, there’s a chance they may see TV filming in action.

We won’t spoil anything that is going on at the location story-wise, but it’s pretty obvious that the park is serving as a double for North Carolina — which makes some sense given that there are plenty of trees and not as much of the visual aesthetic that has defined the first few seasons of the show in Scotland. Trying to use one location to replicate another is always a challenge, but we do have faith in the folks over at Outlander behind-the-scenes for taking on this challenge and making the most of what is around them.

The reports that we’ve seen and heard on set are ones of eagerness from people being able to have an opportunity to see filming for a major television show up close and personal. It’s an exciting, rare thing, and we absolutely understand all of the enthusiasm that is out there for it. Who wouldn’t want to have an opportunity to see something like this in person?

Now, we have heard some of the rumors that Sam Heughan will be spotted at some point today, but we don’t really trade in rumors. If that happens, we’ll have it for you in the afternoon update a little bit later.

The fourth season of Outlander will premiere on Starz later this year, but before that there is quite a bit more filming left to do. We don’t think that people in Scotland should interpret today as the final opportunity to see filming take place. After all, there is still more than half the season to film! They may have their own sets somewhat out of the public eye, but at the same time the crew does venture out to locations here and there — they have to, given that this is in many ways an outdoor series featuring characters in an era where there wasn’t electricity or any modern conveniences.
