Big Brother: Celebrity Edition spotlight: Will Chuck Liddell fight to the finish?

Chuck Liddell is one of the most well-known MMA fighters of all time. As a result of that, we’ve got a pretty simple question: Why in the world is he going through the aggravation of being a contestant on Big Brother: Celebrity Edition? We don’t get the sense that he is some enormous Big Brother fan, and that he’s spending a huge amount of time sitting around and watching the show in advance.

Instead, this is a guy who could probably just stay involved in the MMA community for however long he wants and be a significant player in that. Why do this? We could really spend the entirety of this article discussing this very thing, but let’s try to figure out how he is going to survive within the context of the game.

One of the things that we have a lot of confidence in at the moment is simply this: Chuck is a super-competitive guy. He’s somebody who will stop at nothing in order to ensure that he is on top; you don’t get to where he is in the athletic world without that. He’s also savvy enough to have built a brand surrounding what he does.

Here’s the biggest issue when it comes to him within the context of a reality TV game show — we are not talking about someone here who had to be devious or super-strategic through most of his career in the same way you need to be for his game. His fame was due, first and foremost, to a skill. It’s not a skill that translates all that well to the Big Brother game. He’ll be good in physical challenges, but we sincerely doubt that there is going to be a lot of those in this season. He’ll be thought of, nonetheless, as a threat for that.

The thing we’re most excited about – What happens in the event that this guy does somehow stumble into some power. There could be a lot of entertainment with this, even if some of it is of the unintentional variety as he may not know exactly how to navigate the situation that he’s put into.

What we’re a little more concerned about is this: We’re not sure that he’ll be good TV. Most athletes really aren’t unless they are doing what they are known for.
