Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 11 preview: Chandra Wilson’s showcase

If you’ve been waiting to get an enormous episode all about Chandra Wilson’s Dr. Miranda Bailey, Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 11 entitled “Don’t Fear the Reaper” seems to be it. This is an installment that is going to focus  on everything that the character is going through, and we also feel like this one is going to be especially important when you consider that Bailey is almost a conduit for the story of the newly-titled Station 19 firefighter spin-off. It’s her husband Ben who is going over to be a part of that show, and we could experience some of that transition through her eyes.

The stress of managing the hospital and coming to terms with Ben’s decision to become a Seattle firefighter pushes Bailey to her limits.

Clearly, ABC is not all that much in a mood to share at the moment, though we do understand that given that this could be a big episode and they want to make sure that everyone watches live to experience Bailey’s journey. It feels wrong to proclaim this a standalone based on a synopsis alone, but the focus is probably going to be on her in the way that the first two episodes of 2018 have been about Jo. If Wilson’s performance is anywhere close to what Camilla Luddington’s has been the past couple of weeks, it feels pretty clear that we’re in for a real treat.

As for the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off itself, you’ll get a chance to check that out more once we get on the other side of the Winter Olympics. There is definitely a whole lot more to discuss in due time. For now, let’s just hope that despite all of the life changes and everything else coming their way, we’ll end up seeing Bailey and Ben get through this super-crazy time in their lives.
