The Flash season 4: The Iris West – costume rumors; is she getting powers?
It’s understandable that this would be the sort of thing to send The Flash fans into overdrive. CarterMatt knows that there are some out there who prefer Iris not to have powers, mostly because she’s a prime example that you don’t need them in order to be badass. Yet, there are also people who think that it’d be a lot of fun to see her in this role. Either way, there is a precedent for this in the comic books so you can’t just proclaim this to be “not canon” and be angry about it.
Of course, nobody at The Flash is going to be all that willing to give out details on what’s going on here, but we at least know the following teaser. Per Entertainment Weekly, there is a reason why Iris is in costume — and she may even be a speedster! However, it may only be temporary. There are a number of different possibilities that surround what’s going on here, and we wonder if there is a way that Barry or someone else could temporarily find a way to give her powers in order for her to help with a specific problem.
Ultimately, this could end up being the best of both worlds. It would enable us to have the super-fun opportunity to see what Iris West is like with powers. However, at the same time it wouldn’t do all that much to change the fabric of the show. For the time being we really like this idea, and we think it’ll be great to see Candice Patton do something that she really hasn’t on the show to date.

Ultimately, we’re probably not going to see Iris suit up until the spring (the photos of her in costume were just uploaded over the past week), so there is plenty of time to speculate further on this.
