Chicago Med: Has the show done enough for a season 4 renewal?

Chicago Med

During this time of the television season many networks reward early renewals to their well-performing shows. So has NBC’s Chicago Med done enough to receive an early season 4 renewal? The answer is possibly. The show has been performing well in its time slot and has been well-received by fans. In addition, the ratings have been very consistent for the series which is great to see. For any show, when the rating numbers are all over the place networks tend to be apprehensive about renewing the show, but if the ratings stay consistent networks are more likely to renew the show because they know fans will return week after week to tune in.

The show has also done a great job at moving the series and its characters forward. The characters’ storylines are progressing at neither a fast rate or a slow one, but rather one that seems realistic and logical. The storytelling constantly keeps fans guessing and hoping which factors in to why fans tune in every week.

The writers also give the impression that they have listened to the fans. For example, Dr. Natalie Manning and Dr. Will Halstead have been the couple to ship since the beginning and at the end of Season 2 they finally got together. It was what many of the fans wanted and they received it. Now we aren’t saying the writers won’t throw a curveball at the fans with this relationship, but the writers give the impression they will always hear what the fans want.

So in our opinion, Chicago Med has done everything it can to possibly get an early renewal from NBC. Especially for a show that isn’t one of the award-winning or nominated shows. This isn’t a bad thing. It just means that for a show that doesn’t get as much press as the nominated shows, it’s checked every box it could in order to get NBC’s attention. We also want fans to know that even if it doesn’t get an early renewal, that doesn’t mean that it won’t get renewed at all. It just means fans will have to wait closer to April and May to hear anything.

As always, we urge fans to keep their voices heard by using social media, such as Twitter, to inform NBC that you want another season of Chicago Med.
