The Flash season 4 episode 11 preview: Elongated Man’s central story

Flash season 4 episode 11

When The Flash season 4 episode 11 is airing on The CW in one week’s time, and the title alone should be enough to make you smile: “The Elongated Knight Rises.” Someone in the writers’ room obviously knows that this is a ridiculous title, but they’re just shrugging their shoulders and, understandably, deciding that they’re just going to roll with this anyway and for good reason — this is a fun episode for what’s going to be a very fun episode of the show. We’ve gotten to know Hartley Sawyer’s character over time and, admittedly, some of the writing has been a little bit unfortunate. Given the headlines that have been out there in the news as of late, he hasn’t been the easiest guy to like all the time.

Could that be changing? We absolutely do think so. This is a character that the writers do seem intent on trying to redeem, and this episode could be a great opportunity to do so. Elongated Man is suddenly going to become more of a hero than he’s been to date, largely because he needs to. After all, the future of Central City depends on him! The Flash season 4 episode 11 synopsis below offers up some additional news regarding this subject:

THE RISE OF THE HERO – When a familiar villain returns to terrorize Central City, Ralph (guest star Hartley Sawyer) must rise up to defend the innocent while Barry (Grant Gustin) is detained by his trial. Meanwhile, Barry searches for the strength to keep his optimism alive in the face of his new circumstances. Alexandra La Roche directed the episode written by Sterling Gates & Thomas Pound (#411). Original airdate 1/23/2018.

By the end of The Flash season 4 episode 11 we’re going to have an opportunity to learn more about who Ralph really is an if he has the potential to stick around this show in one form or another. Ultimately, we imagine that there are going to be some opportunities for him to shine here — if they ever dry up, there’s always Legends of Tomorrow. Just remember that Wally West is going to be going over to that show for an arc of his own a little bit later in the season.

As for who the returning villain is for this episode, think in terms of the new Trickster — not the one Mark Hamill plays, as he was probably promoting Star Wars: The Last Jedi at the time this episode was filmed.
