Shadowhunters season 3: Malec spoilers; more filming news

While you may still be waiting until March to see Shadowhunters season 3 in action, that doesn’t mean that you have to wait that long at all to get some of the first Malec news!

In a new post on Twitter, executive producer Todd Slavkin offered up what is apparently going to be an actual scene for Harry Shum Jr. and Matthew Daddario’s characters on the Freeform drama, and we have to say that it should make ‘shippers rather happy. It’s a cute moment in a show that is often rather dark and dramatic, and that in itself is a reminder of why Malec is so important as a relationship to Shadowhunters and to the fandom — even when things are going crazy (and they most likely will be in season 3 thanks to the arrival of Lilith), there are still going to be moments where humanity is necessary. These two are a beating heart for the show and their relationship is a source of strength and a beacon of hope to other characters who are still waiting for their own moment in the sun.

More than likely there will be challenges for Magnus and Alec moving forward, just like there is for any couple. What matters is how they face those challenges and that they face them together. Based on what we’ve seen from these two so far, we have every reason in the world to think that they can tackle some of these issues and get through to the other side in one piece.

Hopefully Shadowhunters will gift us some great Malec content pretty early on in the season.

As for where Shadowhunters season 3 is in filming at the moment, Slavkin confirmed that filming for the second half of the season will start a little bit later this month and that the first three episodes are already wrapped up and ready to air. Of course, that probably will not mean a lot to some of you who are eagerly awaiting more new episodes for months, but it’s rather nice to know that some substantial progress on the show is already being made.
