Outlander notes: Richard Rankin’s birthday, soundtrack hopes, and a Golden Globes cheering section

Richard Rankin's birthday

Who is ready to check out a few little micro-updates now all about Outlander? We’ve got a few different things to discuss, but let’s start off by saying a very happy birthday to Richard Rankin! The actor, who many best know now as Roger Wakefield, hopefully had a good day — hopefully, he’s off somewhere just as happy as Roger was after getting to spend a great deal of time with Brianna around the holidays.

Rankin will be back as Roger in Outlander coming up, and if you want to engage in a little bit of fun speculation on that subject, we suggest that you head over to the link here and read one of our most-recent Character Questions pieces. Also, we’ve mentioned this before but go watch Richard in The Crimson Field if you love him in Outlander. He’s nothing short of fantastic.

As for some other news…

Who wouldn’t want an Outlander season 3 soundtrack? – This is something that the excellent compose Bear McCreary teased recently on Twitter — there’s no official release date attached to it just yet, but consider this your perfect future companion whenever you want music that is adventurous, epic, but also at times soothing. The relationship between music and memory is a very close one; if you hear the Outlander score, there is a reasonably good chance that you associate it with the show and how much you love it. That’s another reason to want to pick this up whenever it is released.

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the cover features the excellent season 3 key art of Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe); we’d want to use this for as many different things as we could if at all possible.

A Golden Globes cheering section – Finally, the folks over at Outlander SoCal are going to be doing their part to represent the show while at the Globes on Sunday in Los Angeles. Why this is so significant is to ensure that there are plenty of cheers anytime that nominee Caitriona Balfe is spotted on the red carpet. It’s an opportunity to give her some more publicity, while at the same time she does her part to ensure that the series gets more positive attention through many interviews, as well. Even with a third season that was pretty well-promoted by Starz, there are still plenty of people out there most likely who don’t have that much of an idea what Outlander is.

You will be able to watch the red-carpet specials for the Golden Globes starting at around 6:00 p.m. Eastern either via Facebook or on E!, for those of you who like a television option.
