The Fosters ending: Teri Polo, Sherri Saum react

Fosters new tonight

The news of The Fosters ending — at least in its present for — is still reverberating across the internet and for understandable reasons. This is a series that meant a lot of things to a lot of people — it was a family drama that showcased a loving, diverse family environment. While its main characters had their fair share of struggles, they all loved and cared about each other. This show is an inspiration to so many and it’s going to be missed.

Is there a spin-off coming? Sure. We reported about it earlier today and it does sound exciting; yet, it will lack the family dynamic that the current show has, even if other familiar characters turn up here and there.

While we know that are many reactions out there to The Fosters ending, we want to share with you here two of the ones that we find the most meaningful — the ones featuring stars Teri Polo and Sherri Saum. These two played Stef and Lena, the matriarchs of the entire Adams Foster family. They became in some ways the parents for many of the young people who watched the show. They’ve experienced their own ups and downs in their lives and careers, and this is what makes their reactions all the more poignant. Check them out below.

Teri Polo, via Twitter – “I’m not going to settle, I’m not going to plateau…I am going to take the joy, the love, the lessons I have learned and share this with everyone I know, as I so look forward to my new journey!!! If we ALL take this gift of the last 5 years, and share it … we will continue to make a difference in lives, from this day on. “You must be the change you wish to see in the world” Gandhi. Reach out and touch more lives with your stories, that’s what The Fosters was here for. You’re all in charge now. Always in my heart…thank you.”

Sherri Saum, via Instagram – “[This] show-this cast-this fandom-this social impact only in dreams. thank you for living it with me for half a decade!”

These messages are simple, yet poignant. These two women know the value that they hold to The Fosters community and we hope they have opportunities to appear in the spin-off. Beyond that, we’re exciting for whatever else they get an opportunity to do.

The Fosters will end later this year with a two-hour farewell to the show in its current form. We’ll have more news on that in the near future.
