The Fosters season 5 episode 10 video: Stef squares off with ICE

Fosters season 5 episode 10

The Fosters season 5 episode 10 is airing on January 9 — at the center of it is one question when it comes to Ximena. Is is possible that she is going to be able to escape deportation?

At the end of the summer finale Ximena was able to find sanctuary within a church — one of the few places where she can be safe unless someone produces a warrant to bring her in. ICE cannot take her, which leads to them trying a different strategy when it comes to Stef: Approaching her in hopes that they can manipulate her into bringing her in. They fire off some accusations to her about her being “in on it” and it’s clear that they are trying to do — fuel the fire and get her to admit to something that they can use against her. If ICE can’t get Ximena, they’ll get those who are trying to protect her as a means of trying to convince her to turn herself in. It’s a common strategy of manipulation, one in which guilt is an effective weapon for people getting what they want.

The problem that Stef seems to be running into here is that she may not be in possession of the full story. According to the ICE agent Ximena’s DACA status is expired. What’s so complicated about this storyline is that, in reality, there are so many things about the DACA program that are still in flux. Even though Ximena never did anything wrong as a Dreamer, there are people working in higher places of government who are intent on trying to keep her from pursing the American dream she wants. Without giving anything away about the upcoming story at large, signs points to this not being wrapped up at all in the winter premiere.
