IT: Welcome to Derry season 2 premiere date: July 2026 update
Is there a chance that we are going to hear something more about IT: Welcome to Derry season 2 between now and the end of July?
We certainly do imagine if there are some people out there confused about one thing already when it comes to the show — the fact that it does not have any sort of renewal already! What are the powers-that-be waiting on here? When you think about it, HBO had a pretty clear hit with season 1 and with the way in which the horror-drama is being structured, there are a ton of reasons to think that another chapter would be successful. The only reason we may be waiting at this point is to ensure there is a proper story in place — because you are dealing with an ageless entity in Pennywise and largely a new cast, you do not have to worry about anyone looking too old or a little strange moving forward.

What we would say is that unless there is something official that comes out from an HBO executive, there is no immediate cause for concern here. The hope still remains that season 2 will happen but certainly, there is not going to be that much in the way of major news (other than a possible renewal) coming anytime soon.
So what is a reasonable release estimate, exactly?
From where we sit at this point, the absolute earliest we would imagine Welcome to Derry back now is moving into 2028, meaning that there could be an almost three-year wait presumably between seasons. Not only is this a show that takes a while to film once it gets officially renewed, but there are also a ton of visual effects. This is a series that is really doing whatever it can to be close to perfect, but there are downsides that come along with that.
