Poldark parody coming via Eleanor Tomlinson, Jack Farthing this Christmas
According to a report from the Radio Times, you are going to see series stars Eleanor Tomlinson (Demelza) and Jack Farthing (Warleggan) turning in appearances on the upcoming 300 Years of French and Saunders special this Christmas. This tongue-in-cheek title is a reference to the many years that Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders have worked together creating fun sketches — they haven’t done so on television in quite some time, but they’ve got a rich history and apparently they’ve got enough of a love of Poldark to want to skewer it in some shape or form.
Poldark, as much as we love it, is probably also a show that is pretty easy to skewer given that there are a number of things about it that are rather comical. Take, for example, all of the long, drawn-out walks along the beach, Ross being one of the most indecisive characters in recent memory, or a Big Bad in George who likes to be nasty for nasty’s sake. There are so many funny things that could be done with this world and we give Farthing and Tomlinson some credit for going along with the joke and being a part of the fun.
Hopefully, this Poldark parody will be a reasonable enough appetizer for some people out there subjected to what is a really long wait between seasons. Poldark season 4 is probably going to premiere on the BBC next summer but that is still more than six months away most likely. Filming is underway on these new episodes but it’s not likely we’ll learn the premiere date for some time. As a matter of fact, we could end up learning about whether or not there is a season 5 before we find out when the fourth season is going to premiere.
