American Horror Story season 8 premiere date (and crossover) hopes

American Horror Story seas 8 premiere date

When will the American Horror Story season 8 premiere date be? We answer that question and look at a larger subject — what the franchise needs to do in order to get momentum going in the right direction again.

After all, we’re coming off of the lowest-rated season for the show yet, one that probably signifies (more than anything else) that politically-charged seasons may not be as good in practice as they seem on paper. While creatively this may be the franchise’s best iteration in a few years, it’s also one that suffers from political fatigue. It’s the fall of 2017 and we’ve been living with the aftermath of the Presidential Election for the past year. Has there ever been an election where the results were still so contentious one year later, and when the runner-up is still in the news so much for things that she did years ago? While we don’t want to paint with too broad a brush here the overall sentiment simply seems to be that there are many people out there who are, quite frankly, sick of some of the same headlines being regurgitated time and time again. They want to deviate a little bit more away from some of the rinse-and-repeat stories and over to new and exciting topics — ones that offer up real escapism as opposed to ones that just remind them of the real world.

Could American Horror Story season 8 offer that? One interesting idea for it could be going back and touching on the Murder House / Coven crossover season that was first discussed by Murphy a good year ago. Speaking on that subject to Entertainment Weekly the co-creator had the following to say:

“I’ve [already] started going to actors from both of the seasons, quietly, saying, ‘I think in this window, if you could fit us in.’ So yeah, it’s fun. It’s weird.”

Given that this was SO long ago there isn’t any guarantee at this point that it will be happening — that’s especially true if Murphy wants Connie Britton, who now has a new project with him in 9-1-1 premiering in the new year.

As for when the American Horror Story season 8 premiere date will be, regardless of the theme you can anticipate it coming in the fall of next year. This seems to be the ideal spot to launch these seasons since it’s right around Halloween and the thirst, in theory, should be there.
