Scorpion season 4 episode 8 review: Fun at the Renaissance Faire

Scorpion season 4 episode 8

Scorpion season 4 episode 8 started things off with a reminder that being a lawyer is about much more than just passing the Bar. Sylvester was in court with Cabe, but despite whatever argument he wanted to present to the jury, he learned that the case was going to trial.

Beyond this, we saw that Walter was trying to do something more in his efforts to woo Paige: He wanted to write her a love song! This will be revisited later, but what Walter needs to realize is that a good love song is about the heart more so than the science.

The most important thing to note at the moment is that this episode was Sylvester’s birthday! As it turned out, all Sly wanted to do was go to the Renaissance Faire and have a great time, and for the first fifteen or so minutes or so, this was hilarious. You had Cabe accidentally dressing like a famous character and getting praised, Toby trying to hook up with Happy while she was dressed as an executioner, and Walter being a total wet blanket about the whole thing. Apparently, he likes his Faire visits to be historically accurate — and he also does not like King Philip giving Paige a rose. All of this was hilarious, but we knew that another shoe was going to drop in due time.

That shoe dropped when some dangerous biker gang arrived at the Faire to commit a robbery and ended up shooting a man. All of a sudden we had a crisis at the Faire like nobody’s business. Apparently the Faire was the sight of a key evidence drop, and that is what the gang was looking for.

Not only did the team have to find a way to save the life of the man who was shot, but they then had to try and recruit everyone else at the Faire to take part in their effort to make sure that the biker gang was taken out one way or another. Sylvester overcame his fear of public speaking and gave a rousing speech to everyone else at the Faire; after that, things really got crazy. Cabe got into a sword-fight after knocking over one of the gang members using a jousting spear.

Also, Walter had to basically kill the man who was shot by knocking out the temporary electricity to create distraction, one large enough so that they could stop one of the bikers from taking out the whole team. They were able to bring him back to life, and the day was saved! Huzzah!

After the mission

Sly had many of the Faire attendees show up at the garage for an impromptu party; not only that, but we got to hear Walter’s song for Paige! He went for the soften, more intimate route with lyrics that mattered — it actually had a little bit of bluesy charm to it. He eventually tried to get rid of the recording he made, but let’s just say that it didn’t go in the garbage like he planned.

CarterMatt Verdict

Tonight’s episode of Scorpion was arguably the best of the of the season. While it may not have progressed the story forward much we probably laughed more from start to finish than we have during any other episode so far this year.
