The Walking Dead season 8 episode 5 preview: A Jeffrey Dean Morgan – Negan spotlight

Walking Dead season 8 episode 5What’s coming on The Walking Dead season 8 episode 5? Well if you enjoy watching Negan, you will probably be excited about this episode.

The title for this episode is “The Big Scary U,” and just seeing that title is intriguing for a number of different reasons. For one, we’re absolutely curious why we’ve got the upper-case U there. Is being a part of the Saviors like being in some crazy university with factions and frat parties and some obnoxious toolbag leading the charge? It’s possible since Negan is a bit of a toolbag.

One of the things that Negan really has going for him as a leader is that he can be rather charming — if you’re on his side you feel like you’re one of the cool kids. He’s also scary and intimidating enough so that you don’t have much of a reason to ever turn on him. If you were to do that, you would have to be prepared for some pretty devastating consequences on the other side.

A close look at Negan and the lives of the Saviors during the conflict through a familiar set of eyes.

Whose perspective are we viewing this story through? That is in part what makes this upcoming story so interesting. This could be an interesting day-in-the-life style episode, but if we’re getting the perspective here of a prisoner or someone in Rick’s group past or present, we wouldn’t consider this a backstory episode per se (we are assuming that this will be through the eyes of Gabriel since he’s currently stuck with Negan in some dark room). From our vantage point Negan should be one of those characters who we don’t know all that much about. There’s just something inherently interesting about not getting to know some background on a character this broken and angry. A big part of what makes the Joker so interesting in the Batman comics is that you don’t know a lot of where he comes from and don’t always understand his motives. We do like the idea of keeping Negan a little bit enigmatic.
