The Fosters season 5 filming progress report; renewal wait continues
In a post on Twitter (which you can see below) executive producer Bradley Bredeweg confirmed that he is directing the 15th episode of the season; at the conclusion of this one, there are only three more episodes to go of this 18-episode season. We’d love to say that life for Stef, Lena, and the rest of the Adams Foster family will be easier by this point, but that would probably be a lie. This is a show that is often about watching its characters endure near-constant trials and tribulation without a whole lot of hope as to what the future could end up being. It’s a tough thing to watch them endure so much, but at the same time it makes them stronger. It’s what makes them capable to tackle almost anything that is thrown at them — if they hadn’t gone through everything so far there’s a good chance they would’ve folded when facing Callie’s legal woes or some significant health problems for Jesus.
While The Fosters starts to near the end of its season 5 production the questions regarding its future are going to continue to mount. As of right now, Freeform has not confirmed the show for a sixth season. We remain confident that it will happen, and to be honest, we’re at the point now where we are wondering the reason for the holdup on announcing it? The live ratings may be down versus season 4, but not significantly. Meanwhile, the show remains extremely popular online and touches on some important social issues that don’t get the attention that they deserve elsewhere. Freeform is also expanding, which means they will have more spots available for programming in the future.
What we are trying to say here is that this is a show that should be getting the renewal soon so that nobody on the cast and crew has to endure the idea of filming their last day this year. Sure, this is a first-world problem and they are strong enough to handle it, but wouldn’t it be nice to give them some semblance of relief?
