The Flash season 4 episode 7 spoilers: The Thinker’s backstory is coming

Flash season 4 episode 7

What makes The Thinker the man that he is? Coming up on The Flash season 4 episode 7, it appears you’re going to get some answers. The title for this episode in “Therefore I Am” is the first sign that this is going to be the biggest episode of the season for the character. After all, this in itself is a reference to “I Think, Therefore I Am,” one of the most famous quotes from philosopher Rene Descartes.

Below, The Flash season 4 episode 7 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you offers up a little more in the way of insight regarding what’s coming:

Barry (Grant Gustin) comes face to face with DeVoe (guest star Neil Sandilands). DeVoe’s past is revealed through flashbacks. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) puts the final touches on the wedding, which is a week away. David McWhirter directed the episode written by Eric Wallace & Thomas Pound.

It’s pretty significant that this episode offers up the first meeting between The Flash and The Thinker, but it doesn’t completely resolve one question — why doesn’t Barry just run circles around him and defeat him right away? While DeVoe may be one of the most fascinating villains on the show in some time, he also operates in a way that is very different than any of the speedsters.

How can he defend himself against someone like Barry who should be able to physically overpower him without even blinking an eye? He must have some sort of defense system set up, just because of the fact that he has thought through every other phase of his plan so far. He anticipated that Barry would be quick to uncover a part of his operation just as he figured out the right place and the right time to create some more metahumans through some of the dark matter energy that came through the Speed Force. Yes, roll your eyes at that concept — it’s probably merited, but you gotta suspend belief with this show.

This Flash season 4 episode 7 synopsis does also confirm (seemingly) that the Iris West – Barry Allen wedding is being planned for the crossover, which was somewhat confirmed in the poster for it’s release weeks ago. More than likely The Thinker will not be a part of the crossover event, but will return the following week for what should be a really big episode to propel this show into what is the second part of the season. Judging from the warnings that were handed down via both Savitar and also Abra Kadabra last season, stopping The Thinker is going to prove to be no easy task.
