Outlander notes: Season 4 enters night shoots; Sam Heughan honors

night shoots

Ready for another dose of Outlander notes on this fine Wednesday morning? One of the nice things is that with season 4 underway there’s almost always something happening within the world of the show.

This time around we are specifically paying reference to the conditions in Scotland for the week — think cool, wet, and not always the most conducive to production. There are also some night shoots going on for the second week of production, but can you really be surprised by this? It happens with a show like Outlander — sometimes you can rewrite certain night scenes to film in the daytime to make life a little easier on the cast and crew, but at the same time there are also many sequences that just so happen to be necessary for night. There are logically events that need to be shot at night that cannot be accurately produced in anywhere near the same way during the daytime.

Let’s hope that someone close to Sam is on standby with a cup of coffee — or that he’s very comfortable sleeping during the day (or whatever time is free when the Outlander cast is not filming, given that there really isn’t all that much on select days).

Outlander season 4 filming will be continuing moving into the winter in Scotland, so the thing to remember here is that no matter what the conditions may be in the country now, they’re only going to be getting colder and likely all the more harsh in the weeks to come. (Of course, our updates here at CarterMatt will be as consistent as always.)

Some other Sam Heughan honors

It really shouldn’t be all that big of a shocker that Heughan is getting recognized for some of his charity work via Charity Champions in Scotland — with My Peak Challenge and the charity Bloodwise the man is truly doing quite a bit in order to make the world a better place and using some of his platform for good. One of the things that has been rather delightful to see is that as his profile (and the profile of Outlander) has increased, he’s never wavered in support of any of his causes. As a matter of fact, it’s only led to more people contributing to some of his charities and allowing them to, in turn, do more. It’s a nice cyclical thing that can come from more publicity.

You can read more about the Charity Champions Awards and the gala that they are having by visiting their official website over at the link here. They will be having a gala next month honoring some of their recipients.
