Victoria season 2 episode 7 sneak peek: The Queen in Scotland

Sunday night’s Victoria season 2 episode 7 is the penultimate one of the season, and as a result of that there are many key events.

One of the biggest ones is going to be the Queen heading north to Scotland as a means to get a bit of refuge. Following the assassination attempt, it’s understandable that one would travel elsewhere in hopes of finding a little bit more peace for herself. For Victoria, it’s also very much understandable that this would be the place that she would choose. Victoria’s kind sentiment towards Scotland and the Highlands dates back to when she was a child and there is a sense of escapism that she feels being there, seeing the scenery and enjoying a different part of the world.

The unfortunate reality that she is going to realize is that being in Scotland does not change who she is: She’s still the Queen, and she’ll still be treated as such regardless of whether or not she wants that. Eventually, the press release for this episode does note that Victoria is going to be able to find some solace in Scotland eventually — we’re not sure that this is the anonymity that she once wanted, but it’s something that will still feel very much important to her as she figures out the next phase of her life and her rule. Our feeling is that she will return back home with a greater sense of self and understanding of her place in the world. She’s been through a lot, but much of it is a part of her having this role. If she’s meant to continue leading the country in some way she can’t show much vulnerability. She has to be able to find moments for it for herself, and this could be in part one of the main focuses of this episode.
